Calvert County Public Schools will hold a School Board election for 2 seats on November 8, 2022. School Board members are selected “At Large,” meaning voters will be able to vote for 2 of the 4 candidates on the ballot. The candidates are Lisa Grenis, Jana Post, Camille Khaleesi, and Tracy McGuire.

CANDIDATES

Lisa Grenis is a registered Republican.

 

Grenis wants schools to focus on core academics and supports curriculum transparency. She also supports the ability to opt out of the curriculum.

 

Grenis has lamented the burden created by “policymakers at the top end” who are out of touch with the District and notes both teachers and parents have not been heard.

 

Grenis supports age-appropriate books in schools.

Lisa Grenis is a mother of 2 and served as a teacher and learning specialist for 26 years.

Jana Post is a registered Republican.

 

Post’s priorities include curriculum transparency, removing politics from education, strengthening the relationship between parents and teachers, and promoting educational growth.

 

Post opposes teaching students about gender identity as part of the curriculum.

 

Post supported efforts to end Maryland’s public school mask mandate.

Jana Post is a mother of 5 and the President of Calvert Aquatics Club

Camille Khaleesi is a registered Democrat. The Calvert County Democrats include Khaleesi among their slate of 2022 Democratic candidates. Khaleesi is endorsed by local education unions.

 

Khaleesi lists teachers as her top priority. She also wants to “strengthen” the anti-racism policy and further Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.

 

Khaleesi supports creating a performance review process for the Superintendent.

Camille Khaleesi is a mother of 4 and human resources professional.

Tracey McGuire is a registered Democrat. The Calvert County Democrats include McGuire among their slate of 2022 Democratic candidates. McGuire is endorsed by local education unions.

 

McGuire supported the district’s 5-year strategic plan which included “equity” as a top priority. “Equity liaisons” were implemented and “equity trainings” were mandated.
